BODY AS GUIDE (how the body is the point of transformation in Human Design)
I used to follow goop and Amanda Chantel Bacon like they were Jesus Christ. I read well and good (the health and wellness blog) and I worked out like a fiend. I went to a functional concierge doctor to support get thinner and to try and get my skin even more perfect. I worked with multiple facialists, I bought red light devices all so that I could achieve one thing: I wanted salvation thru perfect health and fitness. It was an obsession.
Competitive wellness. It’s killing us.
What we don’t talk about when we talk about the pursuit of thinness and perfect skin and all the trappings of upholding beauty standards is this - that all that pressure and noise (and getting stuck on that hamster wheel of never good enough) is that it kills your authentic spirit.
IT IS SEPARATING YOU FROM YOU.
Getting caught up in the hopes that cultivating a certain image will deliver you from your troubles is actually keeping you from your god (you)
Even if you hit all the beauty standards, it doesn’t make you happy (see every celebrity documentary ever for proof of this) what makes you happy, what actually brings about real peace is living from your spirit.
DIET AND BEAUTY CULTURE MAKE IT SEEM LIKE YOU NEED TO CHANGE WHO YOU ARE TO BE ACCEPTABLE - EXCUSE ME, BUT F*CK THAT.
One magical moment - all of this became clear to me - I had been torturing myself to love myself if I hit an external ideal when really, no one loves anyone because of how they look (they may lust after someone because of how they look, but love and really being deeply aligned has NOTHING TO DO WITH LOOKS)
You do not need to change anything about how to you look to be acceptable. We live in an insane culture that's made to systematically take your confidence down a peg.
BEAUTY STANDARDS AND THE PRESSURE TO LOOK A CERTAIN WAY ARE NEFARIOUS AND CREATED SO THAT THEY TAKE ALL OF YOUR TIME AND ENERGY AWAY FROM CENTERING YOU IN YOUR BODY.
If you are spending all your time on worrying if you are good enough, thin enough, pretty enough, young enough - you do not have the space to actually center yourself and your own wants and needs.
THINK ABOUT THAT!!!
This journey has been full of twists and turns and It took me a while to understand that exercise isn’t the enemy and loving how you look isn’t the enemy - it’s trying to get your body to comply that is the part that’s no bueno
so when I found Human Design - it all started to come together - your body IS a hugely important element in living in your truth - it is the central element to living in alignment with yourself! Listening to and allowing your body to lead you is the path! SO that’s why wellness is confusing - because it too centers the body, but in a way where you are externally focused instead of INTERNALLY focused.
This is why I love Human Design !! It ties together everything I know to be true and puts it in one place (which is why I use it as the basis of all my 1:1 client work)
If there is one drum I am going to beat, it is this - the gift of Human Design is to connect deeply to your body so that you can hear your messages and be aligned with your authentic life - your chart doesn’t tell you who you are, it helps to guide you back into your being so you can live fully as yourself.
Human Design is an avenue to get you back in your body!!
If there’s one thing I know - the journey to loving yourself is an inner journey and that journey cannot exist if you are disconnected from your body.
Your job is the embody YOUR BODY. Inhabit your energy.
Be in your energy, be of yourself.
If you’ve been a perfectionist or saddled with shame (with or without being endoctrinated with beauty standards) this is a big ask - because we’re talking about allowing yourself to make mistakes, be vulnerable + really put yourself out there - we’re saying unplug from the system and even when the system is harmful and broken, that is a scary thing to venture off into the unknown!!
Again, it wasn’t until recently that I realized I’ve been exploring the relationship the body has to our expression of self - until I stopped and took a look back at how far I’d evolved my beliefs and practices from being in the mind prison of wellness as perfection and perfection as salvation.
I work out now for release - to feel good in my body, to clear my mind and to be strong because that’s what feels good to me!
being in touch with the vessel (our body) means I am in devotion to self (which to me is that ultimate spiritual practice)
I have explored this topic in recent letters that you can read here:
The body + Human Design is a POWERFUL COMBINATION
The chart serves as a map. We use it to make sense of the different messages and pressures we receive, pointing us to see which energies will be consistent versus not.
The purpose of a reading is to get you familiar with your design so you can live from the innate wisdom of your body instead of from the conditioning of your past.
One reading can open your world, but the work doesn’t end there. We’ve got to sift through our energy and connect to our bodies so we aren’t making decisions from a place of pressure, but from our own authority.
We learn to betray ourselves pretty young - so Human Design and tapping into your own body wisdom brings you back into harmony with yourself.
If you are in harmony- it helps other people get into harmony too.
Chaos can be calmed through coherence and finding your natural resonance means you are becoming a tuning fork:
As you clear your energy frequency to beam clear - it forces a change in the way you interact (what a thrill!!!) so getting in touch with your body naturally begins to unstick anything that is stuck.
finding your energetic path doesn’t make your life easy or perfect, it makes it YOURS.
aligning with our body and allowing ourselves the space to express this new energy means that patterns naturally have to break, making way for your evolution and creating energetic nudges to those around you - whispering to them that they too can live from the body instead of habit (or what we call conditioning in Human Design)
You can begin listening to your body wisdom at any moment. For me it’s a healthy mix of I find that a healthy mix of movement, meditation, and breath work can clear out the noise and make a better connection to my energy.
For me, understanding my design gave me the confidence to know I was on my right path and the strides I’ve been able to make by living WITH my design instead of fighting against it has been absolutely extraordinary.
If you want to explore this path for yourself - reach out - I’d love to work with you
