THIS IS WHAT I KNOW TO BE TRUE
or how Lindsay Lohan's 'Irish Wish' can teach us everything we need to know about energy work
To live our design, we’ve got to get INTO our bodies.
We’re taught to trust external sources on what our body should feel like, look like, and act like - breaking out of this outside conditioning and getting into the body is ONE OF THE MOST ESSENTIAL steps in your Human Design journey !!!
In my experience, there is no shortcut for inner work. As much as I'd like change or acceptance to come from external changes, it does not work like that for me (so far)
In order to sustain external change, I must first build out my inner resources. Sitting with myself and accepting what is, is the consistent way for me to move forward
Do we *really* spend time listening to what our body is saying?
Knowing what is in your chart is absolutely important, but equally important is then acting on what you know and working with your body’s messaging system. If you are not listening to your body’s messaging system - you are not doing the real work (I won’t sugarcoat)
I've read countless development books, I've changed my appearance, I've changed careers, I've moved (a lot) I've gotten new friends, I've gotten new clothes, I’ve dated people in far different circles and “leagues” than I, and none (NONE!!!!!) of that matters or makes a difference if I do not feel equipped to handle the circumstances I am in.
If I am feeling aligned - I can be anywhere and not be rattled by other people’s opinions or behaviors. On the other hand if I am unaligned and do not have the inner architecture to support my external circumstances - it all crumbles- kind of like the dream structures in Inception.
I watched Irish Wish recently - and found this concept beautifully on display in the movie.
In the movie, Lindsay Lohan’s character gets her wish fulfilled as she wakes up in a timeline where she’s engaged to the object of her affection; Paul Kennedy, her kind of boss and frequent collaborator (she’s his ghost writer) instead of a bridesmaid for her friend who’s engaged to him when the movie starts.
What ensues as the movie progresses is honestly a masterclass in what happens when you are given something but haven’t built out the inner resources to handle it. Lohan’s Maddie continually self-sabotages the relationship she thinks she wants and has been pining over for years, so like a house of cards, even though she’s been given what she wants, it collapses because she’s not equipped to handle it.
Dream vs Fantasy vs Authentic vs Seduction
I am familiar with pushing away what is given to me when you don’t feel worthy or ready for what you *think* you want -
moving out of our comfort zone is incredibly difficult and if your views are challenged (like suddenly getting what you want) your subconscious will push those circumstances away (even if they are what you want!) because it feels unfamiliar, unknown and confusing.
While set point theory is typically used in regard to the body’s weight - we can use it as an allegory for what’s happening when we’re out of our comfort zone in general. There’s a place where we feel normal and anything outside of that feels deeply threatening (if this is something you want to dig into more, I recommend this book or this book)
I came across this tiktok vid recently that beautifully delineates the idea that a dream is actually different than a fantasy and I was obsessed.
Kat posits that a fantasy = escapism, problem solving idealism
a dream = authentically what you desire

THIS WAS A MASSIVE UNLOCK IN MY BRAIN BECAUSE I WAS IMMEDIATELY LIKE THAT’S THE MOST CONCISE EXPLANATION OF THE TRAP OF THE UNDEFINED (AND OPEN) SPACES IN OUR CHART
this FANTASY VS DREAM talk is mirrored in the Human Design chart when we get sucked into the seduction of the open and undefined centers (wanting to experience consistently what we don’t have access to consistently - hungry ghost behavior)
it’s a distraction and ultimately won’t be satisfying (like Irish Wish) because it’s not actually what you desire - it’s a trap of the “not-self”
What we authentically want is our dream and getting there takes actual work; cutting through the conditioning layers and vulnerably putting ourselves out there to achieve what we want (authentic dream desire)
the seductive trap of the not-self is the pursuit of the fantasy that constantly eludes your grip and even when you ‘have it’ it doesn’t feel right (because ultimately you don’t desire it, you think it’s going to save you from hurt)
What moves the needle for me consistently - we’re always talking about getting unstuck because operating authentically as yourself in the capitalism space is as the French say, difficile (difficult)
Practicing body based self-care! Practicing being in the body and listening to the signals and messages from the body strengthens the connection I have to myself and centers me on my path (I will once again preach the workout witch somatic courses and yes this is an affiliate discount link because I still have to live in this capitalistic space)
I’ve found that the most effective way to center and ground myself is by layering multiple modalities together to create a personalized holistic prescription for deep inner listening.
Human Design really strung together the importance of my physical body as the container for my mind and spirit - and that my mind can and will find rest when I am present and landed in my body.
The Keys to the Castle:
BODY (MOVEMENT)
Our physical body must be revered as our home and as intelligent form.
we need movement to release past trauma and emotions, we need movement (especially you Generators + MGs) to tap into our own inner magic and wisdom.
MIND (TRAINING)
Creating space within ourselves to understand the mind is its own entity - serving up thoughts and memories constantly. We must train ourselves to see that we are not the mind.
SPIRITUAL (CONNECTION)
We spend time with ourselves contemplating and investigating inward so that we can journey outward and allow our path to flow forth naturally, on our own rhythms.
I wrote extensively about this recently here:
TO REALLY MAKE MY POINT + wrap this bb up:
our thoughts shape our pov -
through confirmation bias and seeking comfort, our beliefs manifest before our eyes.
In other words, our expectations drive our perceived experience, which is why it is so crucial to examine your beliefs (do that shadow work, bb!!)
And while not everything has to be a mirror into your POV…
EVERYTHING CAN BE A MIRROR IF YOU CHOOSE TO LOOK.
Welcome to the work.
You hold the answers inside of you.
They aren’t in your mind - In fact, we’re trying actively to turn off that overthinking - that’s why we have strategy and authority
Human design is a deeply personal, deeply independent experiment that goes beyond a single reading. Living our design is like an independent lab or independent study and understanding and learning who we are is a full-body, multifaceted experience (and experiment).
TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SUPPORTED AND CELEBRATED MY WORK THIS YEAR, YOU ARE SERIOUSLY THE WIND IN MY SAILS AND I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU COULD KNOW.
ICYMI - I’ve recorded a few conversations that you can watch (or listen to) with 3 of my friends who happen to also be Human Design Projectors who really inspire me - the conversations are absolutely dripping with wisdom and insight - if you haven’t checked them out or knew that this had happened - I think you’ll love these <3
